Alright, a question. My M4 has a standard 363mm barrel. How big of a differnece would range and accuracy be if I put in a 455mm 6.03 barrel? I use .25's, ( couldn't hit a broad side of a barn with .20's....it was a miracle that I shot 4mula1 ) and the range for it is average for a normal M4.

I'd suggest that tightening to a 6.01 would be even more effective then lengthening, plus you have the flexibility of a shorter barrel. This way you would not need to run a suppressor/barrel extension full time. You will see a range boost because of the tightened air seal in the barrel. Your grouping will improve as well. By how much varies depending on what you're currently running in the gun. I think CA barrels are 6.04-6.05mm. Somewhere in there. When switching from a 6.04 to a 6.01, I might have added 10 FPS (+/- 2) or so. |

I believe it's a 6.05, and I believe I'll go with your suggestion. I can save money buy not having to buy a mock silencer...how much further would it be? Or is it different for all guns? |

I'm going to throw a guess out there and say 10-20 feet. A madbull aluminum 6.01 would be a great choice. It is extremely light compared to brass barrels and suitably tough. (Not that the weight matters; I was just impressed with the lightness) |

I would agree with Nova. Going with a Madbull 6.01 seems to be the good choice. Please keep in mind that I only just started using mine but have already seen a marked improvement. I got a few fps just by going to the 6.01 but adding a little length may not hurt since we are talking about a 363mm. Def do the 6.01 tho. One con to the 6.01 is that you have to keep it sparkling clean. The smallest bit of dirt in the barrel could lead to big jam ups. If you don't mind maintaining your weapon after every game, I'd do it. |

@vanish: sounds like you did your homework. I had to add a suppressor to gain the length but I like the look so no big deal. I think I will stick with the 509 after reading these posts. The dirty barrel problem worries me a little. Maybe 6.03 would be enough of an improvement. At the moment it looks like all the upgrades I am having done will cost me around $350 but I upgraded the cylinder, piston, cylinder head, motor and gears. I already had the inner barrel and metal hopup. It better be an awesome gun when I get it back! |

Not that it is advisable, but I went 5 or 6 ops without cleaning my 6.01 and had no trouble. I'd be more worried about the 6.03 in my GBBR and having the debris from that gun running through. |
