I'm in quite the predictament. Everyone tells me that crossman .20 bb's that you can buy just about anywhere are bad for your gun. I know that they aren't the best quality, but here's my situation. Lately I've been playing airsoft alot, now almost every weekend. And thanks to my gun's high ROF, I burn through BB's like they're going out of style. The thing is that I rarely have the spare money make online orders for anything, including airsoft (yesterday was the exception). I am forced to buy the crossman .20's if I want to play airsoft. My question is do they really have bad effects on a gun's internals? If so, are they long term? My 6+ yr old M4 has yet to have any issues since I've been using them for about 5 months. The only thing I know is that they can't be used in 6.01mm barrels... |

They don't fly as nice as higher grade BBs. You can add about 5 fps to your gun just by using nicer BBs. The negative effects in the internals of your gun probably won't set in until the long term. The BBs aren't quite as small as high grades and their not oily if you know what I mean. I assume it could wear on your hop up after a while. |

I should add I'm putting in a new G&P hopup once it arrives this week. How long should that last? And would often oiling of my mags help reduce the wear of the bb's? Edited by vegas, Oct 11 2011, 07:37 PM.

Oiling your mags would be good for you mags. Not sure about the BBs but maybe. Oil your hop up and barrel though. |

@Bagel I would go through that in about 3 months @Nova I assume if I oil up the barrel, hopup and mags the bb's will retain some oil. |

...but like I said before, I don't have much cash lying around. I spent $230 @ Evike the other day, and that'll be my last big airsoft purchase for a very long time... |
