Understood. Stores are doing their best to encourage safe and legal play.

The NJ and CA measures would hurt airsoft business a lot. No contest on that point.

Something I forgot to tell everyone; I asked both of my Criminal Justice profressors (both retired cops) if it's illegal to paint over the orange flashider. They said no unless you want to ship it. Also they said if someone pointed an airsoft gun with a orange tip at a police officer, they'll get shot before a orange tip is seen, b/c of how realistic airsoft guns look.

Valid points. The orange tip thing is true for sure. There was a topic here on the forums years ago that brought that up. It hasn't been discussed much since, but I think most players know these days.

i would expect to see a bill poping up like this soon around here after what hapened about a month ago and the teen being shot because of a replica wepon. We as a comunity need to do a better job of finding a way to promote the responsible use/handeling of these replicas. instead of only fighting when they try to pass a bill about this we need to show people that unless used in a manner that is specified and saftely that there is the very real chance that someone will mistake it for a real wepon and you can/might/will get shot by a real gun if used irisponseably. we should be trying to push local law enforcement to help us with airsoft saftey off the field. and awareness and caution in posesing the replica.
but then on the other end of it ...if your dumb enough to point an airsoft replica at anoyone ...while not playing airsoft....and if you get shot ...justice is complete and that should be that. parents who hold these companys/police/whatever responsable for what there child does are just as dumb and were most likely the cause of the iresponsable act that was preformed.

Well said Droop. I believe you summed up the whole issue and how it can be resolved. Awareness of the direct actions of brandishing a replica airsoft gun should be let known to everyone.

Aren't firearms considered lethal....airsoft "guns" fire around 350 FPS with pushed out by AIR. Thats BS.
It's not the Acid attacks. Honor killings. Beheadings. School bombings. Hostage taking. Corrupt checkpoints. Religious violence between factions. Institutionalized corruption. Corporal punishment. Slavery of women. Or even the widely practiced recreational homosexuality. You all can hold hands while you skip down Chaos Lane for all I f*cking care. But when your civilization sucker punches my civilization, I aint gonna leave nothin left of your way of life but a cloud of dust... Ask the Japanese.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firearm

though to put a slightly more modern aproach i could see air as a propelant being added to the definition but tecnacly an airsoft gun could never be considered a firearm
