This topic isn't really about what I think the next step would be but actually about what someone else said. They claimed that they did not want airsoft to become like paintball and proposed doing multi day, non stop ops or terrain many square miles in size and the like. He recieved mixed responses. Some said they liked the basic idea he came up with and said it could boost milsim. Others said his idea takes fun and recreational activity and turns it into work. On another front, many claimed that his idea much be good but it would not get off the ground without a lot of work.

I like the idea of more realism, but even Lion Claws ops have breaks, etc don't they? Lion Claws has been very successfull because they have found the spot where you can maximize realism without it being 'work'. Most people don't want to throw on a 100 lb ruck and hike for miles, and get shot only to be out of the game for the entire day. There's a limit on how realistic you can get before people simply dont find it worth it.

Polar98 last year at this time declared an end to its multi year 'pro-milsim' campaign which led to more complicated objectives/storylines, a ban on hicaps, and a commitment to influencing regional organizations (which this effort still continues today). We all have agreed that these are good milsim reforms but most of you would agree that having 1 life and hiking 10 miles with your gear to be the first man shot would not be something worth paying for. People desire action so this is why we have respawns and etc. At P98 ops it is not a constant run and gun battle. There is a lot of quiet movement and most of us are into that aspect too. Thats one thing that separetes our community from the many rec style communities. But this will end my talk. Let me know what you think about this stuff.

I agree with what you said on this. There is a limit. We all call outselves milsimmers and nothing is wrong there but an extreme exists beyond what we refer to as milsim and it is the least supported form of airsoft versus what we are used to as milsim at LC/national ops or P98/regional ops which even though it doesn't have the numbers that rec fields do, it has the most loyal and strongest supporters.

I think Quartz hit the nail right on the head there. Some people aren't ready or don't want to take the next step in airsoft because it (to them) requires too much effort.

Speaking of nonstop milsim events I got invited to a 21-hour nonstop milsim event on a 3,000 acre field in Virginia. I'm tempted to go....

21 hour non stop sounds good to me. Allow respawns and etc. But 48+ hours non stop? Not something for me unless it can be broken up with some breaks, maybe a cookout or camp fire or something.

I agree that the balance that has been spoken of and we've done a pretty good job as far as I can tell to meet the demand of that balance. Just figured I'd weigh in real quick.
