Measuring fps

The rules of P98 say that fps measurements are officially done in .25g by them. Other fields have had a mix of .25g and .20g for measurement.

Last summer, Nova announced that .30g BBs would be the official BBs of his loadout and others on the P98 team use .30g as well. Given P98s support for the .30g, would they be in their right minds to convert the fps measurement to .30g in order to further promote their method of doing things or would that be too much of a hassle?

Well .25g is mainstream for milsim fields these days. I'd say that is the most popular BB weight so that is why it is used. Changing that would have a symbolic meaning but I think if P98 wants to drum up a campaign to get people to use .30g like them then that is fine.

.25's and .2's are cheaper. Also it appears that using .2's is a standard for airsoft manufactioners for how FPS is measured.

Manufacturers do that to help give bigger numbers for their fps. To a new player higher fps = better. Setting that issue aside, Listing the fps with .25g might lose potential customers.

I say just make the same rules as National rules, then everyone will know the standard.

Well thats a classic response. I personally think we should take measurements in .29g. Just kidding.

If P98 ever got around to actually measuring FPS on players guns I would vote for using .25's. ;-)

Yep. It would be .25g since that is what is on the books and I see no reason to change that.

I do like .30g BBs and have since I started using them in 2008 in my former M16. I'd suggest them to anyone really. I will eventually use them in my 1911 which fires no more than 320 with .20g. But I have a couple bags of .25g that I can use for now.

Finally weighed in ha. I just wanted to see what the community thought and see if it was a ripe issue I suppose.
