Lots of guns or a couple really good guns

There are two main routes and two 'other' routes airsofters seem to take.

There are people with a lot of really good guns or few really, well, bad guns. Then there's some in between on all counts.

But then there are people who buy tons of mediocre guns and people who buy just a couple very expensive/nice guns. Which of these two do you think is the best way to go as an airsofter? What would you tell a friend who was deciding (for example) to either buy 6 assorted Echo1s or G&G sportlines or buy a Systema PTW/Polar Star/you know what I mean?

In the end it's their money, they do what they want. I'd try to sway them to buying a P* or whatever. I'm a fan of having a few nice guns that are interchangeable (for example being able to swap recievers for all the guns).

I'd tell them to make a really nice gun. It seems to be the philosophy that I've followed throughout my airsoft career and it has worked out well for me.

I got into the sport by buying a used decent gun and worked my way up buying better guns until I got the P*.
Looking back I wish the P* was around when I started but I doubt if I would have made that investment right away anyway.
Now I have a boatload of guns that aren't really worth much on the resale market and I rarely use.
Mostly I loan them out to players in need of a gun or kids that I encourage to get into the sport.
Since I bought the P* I created an upper for every type of scenario which makes all my other guns even more useless.
I must say one inexpensive gun I bought ($200) that I have been really impressed with was my Echo1 CQB XK. For a short barreled gun it has amazing distance and works like a champ. I probably put 40000 bb's through it and it still run like a champ.
Back to the topic at hand, its fun to have a lot of guns but all you need is one P*!
