The white house is in discussion with various senators about what they can do to ban certain magazines and reinstate the 'assault weapons' ban. This could be one of the most distrubing potential moves in a since Obamacare.

Unfortunate timing. I have been saving up (very slowly) for an AR15 of sorts and was hoping that this could wait.

Passing any of said measures might make people feel better because they've done something, but it sure won't help protect anyone.

The NRA will put up a fight (maybe). A senate bill good get blocked by the house but I don't trust the house republicans that much. There are a lot of good ones but some may cave and ruin it.

The 1994-2004 ban had no effect on gun violence levels. Reinstating will just increase gov't over reach of power and not reduce violence.

“States that allow law-abiding citizens to carry concealed handguns enjoy a 60 percent decrease in multiple-victim public shootings and a 78 percent decrease in victims per attack.” John Lott, Jr. and Bill Landes, “More Guns, Less Crime.”

“With just one single exception, the attack on congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson in 2011, every public shooting since at least 1950 in the U.S. in which more than three people have been killed has taken place where citizens are not allowed to carry guns.” – John Lott, Jr. Co-author with Bill Landes of “More Guns, Less Crime.”

“Until the Newtown horror, the three worst K–12 school shootings ever had taken place in either Britain or Germany.”
